Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to design a model for computerized information system (CIS) based on nurses¡¯ demand for CIS.

Methods: The process involves two steps: First, analysis of nurses¡¯ information requirements from which the data were collected from 230 nurses using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using MS-Excel Program. Second, designing a model for CIS to be utilized for diagnostic tests based on nurses¡¯ information requirements.

Results: The results from questionnaires were scored using 4-point Likert scale and data analysis revealed that nurses use computerized system 2.66+0.58. and 3.37+0.52, respectively. The majority of the subjects(228/230) showed that CIS is highly needed and useful. The second step of the process include the information requirements of diagnostic tests were classified in to 3parts: obtaining clinical specimen, examination requests and reports of examination results. Operation process was classified into 2 parts: data entry and data inquiry. The model for CIS was designed under the principle of convenience and unified single screen.

Conclusion: The new CIS will provide more convenience and satisfactory results to users in clinical situation and further improve the quality of medical care system.
